COUPONING MADE EASY WITH GOOGLE PLACES

Let’s face it:  certain categories are dreadfully competitive for Google local search results.  Do a search for a local Chinese restaurant, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.  So, what can your business do to differentiate it from the pack?

If you’re managing a Google Places page, consider setting up coupons.  It’s fairly straightforward, and I personally don’t see a lot of businesses using them.  Set up is simple.  Log in to your Google Places dashboard, navigate to the Coupons tab and enter your information in the required fields.

After you’re up and running, your page will look something like this:

Coupons are the fourth item on this page, and a user can click on the coupon to view a printable version.  Or, if you’d like to take things one step further, you can enable the coupon for mobile when during coupon set up.  The user can pull the mobile version up on a smartphone and present it in person.

With Google Places joined by Foursquare and now Facebook in the local arena, the landscape is getting fiercely competitive.  This is one simple way you might be able to stand out.
