Ocean City, Maryland Renews MGH’s Contract for Three More Years

Contract renewal extends 12-year relationship through 2017

BALTIMORE (July 2, 2014) – MGH, a full-service marketing communications agency, today announced that its contract with the Ocean City, Maryland Department of Tourism has been extended for three years, through Dec. 31, 2017. Ocean City’s City Council voted to extend the contract after a unanimous recommendation was made by the Tourism Commission to renew the contract for three years.

Under the new agreement, MGH will continue to provide advertising, media buying, public relations, social media, and interactive services for the tourist destination. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“MGH is ecstatic to have our contract with Ocean City extended for three additional years,” said Andy Malis, president of MGH. “By 2017, we will have worked with the destination for 15 years, which is almost unheard of nowadays. We are thankful to the City Council and Tourism Commission for their vote and confidence, and look forward to continuing to develop campaigns that get talked about, but more importantly attract visitors from all over the region.”

During the last 12 years, MGH has worked with Ocean City in a full service capacity. Most notably, the agency created several award-winning campaigns for the destination, including its End of the World campaign and several iterations of everyone’s favorite Spokesguard, Rodney. This year, MGH launched a new TV campaign for the destination town that urges people to use their vacation days for an actual vacation, rather than medical appointments or home improvement projects.

“For more than a decade, MGH has generated campaigns and ideas that drive business and visitors alike, even in a down economy. So, when it came to voting on whether or not to renew MGH’s contract; there was no debate,” commented Council Secretary and Tourism Commission Chair, Mary Knight. “The agency’s responsiveness to the town and even individual businesses have made them a vital asset to Ocean City, and we are excited to see what they have in store over the next three years.”
