Miss Shirley's

In early 2010, Miss Shirley's - a Baltimore eatery - tapped MGH to develop a plan that would increase buzz about the popular restaurant through social networks, while simultaneously driving sales.

MGH developed a comprehensive social media marketing plan, which included a unique Foursquare promotion that would garner attention through both traditional and new media channels. The first-of-its-kind promotion allowed the customer with the most check-ins to be crowned "Mayor," and jump in front of the waiting line at the popular Baltimore restaurant (the average wait can be up to an hour on Sundays).

The promotion was extended through in-store signage and flyers touting the Foursquare promotion to further encourage repeat visits and drive business, as well as a media blitz that garnered coverage on several media outlets and blogs, and tons of positive buzz on Twitter. In fact, the promotion was so popular it was praised on Twitter by Foursquare and its founders. Miss Shirley's was also recently named one of the top Foursquare places in Baltimore by CBSLocal.com.

Most importantly, the promotion has worked. Since it launched, Miss Shirley's has seen a 427% increase in check-ins (between both of the restaurant's locations) and an 18% increase in sales.
