Marketing with pics and clicks (Baltimore Business Journal)

Quick Response technology, or "QR codes", is changing the way consumers interact with brands. Basically, these are codes that, when photographed, are recognized by mobile devices that directly refer the consumer to the corresponding internet link.

This feature article references a holiday QR code campaign MGH created for client Smyth Jewelers that encouraged holiday shoppers to use their smart phones to take advantage of 15 daily promotions. The campaign featured a huge 20' x 20' QR code on the side of Smyth's store in Timonium.

In the article, Ryan Goff, director of social media marketing, states that "only 8 percent of consumers have used QR codes, but 30 percent say they are interested in using them in the next year," Goff predicts that marketers will be adopting these codes in the future due to their accessibility and convenience for the consumer.

Hello, we're MGH! A Baltimore, Maryland advertising agency, public relations firm, interactive development company, word of mouth agency, guerilla marketing firm, design agency, viral marketing firm, and social media marketing company, all rolled into one. It's like a bunch of agencies, but that takes a while to say. So we simply call what we do "modern marketing." It means being able to employ every available communications medium to sell, promote, and otherwise market our clients – whether they are in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., or Philadelphia. We've been at it since 1995 with great success. Take a look.
